Imagine---

You are reclining in back of a black limousine. My stare is intense. I cannot see your eyes, they are hidden by shades, which hide your own curiosity. I am content to look at the lines of your beautiful face. Your lips are a pout of girlish wonder; they entice me.

My eyes follow the arch of your neck down to where it blends into the feminine slopes of your shoulders. One of the spaghetti straps of your white laced summer dress hangs lazily on the coppertoned satin skin of your bicep. I look closely, the tone of your skin is visible through every intricacy that makes up the pattern of your dress. My eyes come to rest on your knees where they are bent, your ankles crossed, revealing the perfection that are your feet. I see your artfully manicured toes; your platinum toe ring makes me smile.

As the sky fades from blue to swirls of orange and lavender, I key a selection into the car's stereo system. The smooth vocals of Angela Bofill's "The Voyage" flows out of the speakers like the amber sweetness dripping from a honey dipper.

When we reach our destination, I bring the car to a stop and get out. The warm desert breeze blows the hem of your dress about your knees, as I help you from the car.

"Go ahead" I tell you, "I'll catch up later."

You walk away, your curiosity taking you towards your adventure. The path you take is bordered on both sides by blue pinecone shaped glass candle holders. Inside, the light glows warmly in the twilight, as the candles light the path around an outcropping of boulders that stand in silhouette against the beautiful evening sky.

You come upon the boulders, you notice the familiar sound of Angela's voice, echoing across the desert like the call of a solitary nightingale calling forlornly to its mate. You come to a clearing surrounded by these house sized boulders. Removing your shades, you step into the clearing; smiling at the sight laid out before you.

Next to a platter of exotic fruits, breads, and cheeses, sits a bottle of red wine. A smile of wonder lights your face when you discover that candlelight glows from the nooks and crannies of the boulders. Below them, a desert spring babbles gently. You walk over to the platform where you find an elegantly written note which says simply: WELCOME INTO MY DREAMS

Hi, my name is Gary. As evidenced from what you've read, you might say that I'm a dreamer. Well, prison is after all, the house of dreams. In fact, dreams are our only means of escape from the violence and monotony of this dismal existence. Well, fortunately my time here is rapidly drawing to an end. I have two more years, and then I will finally begin to make my dreams a reality.

In the 12 years that I have been away, I never considered submitting my emotions to such as medium as the NET. Frankly, I'm very apprehensive about reaching out into this unknown. I have learned through trial and tribulation that honesty and friendship in relationships are things that one cannot depend on without emotional risk; however, the loneliness inside my world, and the possibilities and promises that await me in yours, leaves me breathlessly hopeful.

Well, here I am. If you believe that it might be possible to form a true friendship under these circumstances; to perhaps learn what it is to dream, and even still, go boldly forward in search of those dreams, please feel free to write to me.
