Ken Lynch
Here’s a portrait of the prisoner as a young man, before my feet found those paths and pitfalls that brought me here, where, surrounded by steel, I often retrace them, and wonder where the roads not taken might’ve led.
To answer some common questions: I am confined to my cell 23 hours per day. Aside from chores and exercise, I pass my time reading, writing and thinking. I work puzzles. I recently enrolled in a correspondence course, and eagerly await my first lesson. Letters are of inestimable value to me; they are my sole point of contact with the larger world.
My interests are highly eclectic. Literature, mathematics, science, music, politics, philosophy all fascinate me. I am not an island. Humanity in the broadest sense —— our promise and potential, our flaws and fears —— concerns me.
Whatever categories you might fit due to accidents of birth or particulars of personality (i.e., age, gender, ethnicity, religion ---or lack thereof---, sexual proclivities, etc.) concern me only as fascinating facets of your unique identity. I welcome letters (Inglés o Español) from anyone, anywhere, about anything. I will certainly reply.
