Loving is our strongest human need. In our effort to satisfy our deepest craving, we regularly look outside ourselves to find a person to love. Don't you love being in love? Do you know yourself? Do you know the difference between your needs and the things your ego demands?
Love is a magnet, it attracts the best of everything, it attracts the most positive relationships, because nothing less will do. To give and receive love you have to make contact with life, take risks, know that there will be bitter and sweet experiences. Even your most meaningful relationships will at times challenge you to keep your heart open. Are you willing to bring the better parts of you - a generous spirit, a curious mind, a capacity for compassion and tenderness, and a love for childlike fun to a friendship.
One of the greatest expressions of love and support that friends can give one another is the encouragement to be ourselves and to speak honestly and freely. When two people can safely share heart to heart they strengthen their bond within friendship and between friends there is truth and trust.
Friends want to stay together. A great part of loving ourselves and encouraging personal growth is exposing ourselves to people who challenge us to see new ways of looking at the world. So if you have read to this point you haven't come this far not to go the distance.
