Looking to correspond with people who can help me with my aspiration to be an Addictions Counsellor. I'm currently enrolled at Western Michigan University, in their Certified Addictions Course.
I'm in prison for commercial possession. I'm trying to turn my negative past into a positive future. I have a lot to share in what I went and gone through in my pursuance of sobriety. I've been in prison for 3 years. I haven't used! I could have, even though I'm in prison the option is still there. The desire is not!
It took me losing a lot, not just my freedom, but also the chance to be a father, to get me to realize my addiction was my problem. I had allowed drugs to rule my life. Nothing else mattered. I was sick. Even though at times I wanted to think I was better, just because I wasn't using, I felt I was the one that determined how and when I used. My addictive thinking was in full force, and my sanity was waning.
I address my addiction and thinking errors daily. My sobriety and sanity require it. I'm very committed to my sobriety and desire to be an Addictions Counsellor. Whether you're in the recovery field, in recovery or just would like to share an experience, I would very much like to hear from any and all.
