I am searching for understanding and companionship with someone who is bright, affectionate, and possesses an aversion to the established popular belief systems; somebody who deeply cherishes the ability to think freely, for oneself, independently and uniquely, despite being viewed by others as unconventional. In essence, I find it important to have, as Milton would say, "a mind not to be changed by place or time". The qualities that attract me are self-honesty, a desire for growth and self-mastery, openness, a broad range of knowledge and interests, a degree of introversion, and altruism. Of course, attraction is not so much about the physical as it is mutual understanding, care and intellectual and philosophical compatibility.
As for me... I would describe myself as honest and easy to relate to, easily satisfied and somewhat idealistic, yet occasionally impatient and intolerant. I have significant amounts of knowledge in areas such as the physical and biological sciences, medicine, and engineering. I have military experience, and have lived all across the continental United States, along with Hawaii and South Korea. I deeply venerate the works of Voltaire, Blake, Enya, Tchaikovsky, Escher and Lao Tzu. My interests are fairly diverse, and include the Eastern philosophies, language and etymology, astronomy, biological anthropology and genetics, weaponry, and classical music. Few things provide me more pleasure and content than snuggling with someone under the stars, or in front of the fireplace with some Rachmaninoff or Bach, reading from the Tao Te Ching or Bhagavad Gita.
Do you ever become frustrated or discouraged because a society so devoid of meaning and value, full of people lacking in purpose and sincerity who do not possess the capacity or willingness to truly understand you, impedes your attainment of inner fulfilment and prevents you from bringing to the surface your ideal self? Then, as Zen Master Daito said, "We were parted many thousands of lifetimes ago, yet we have not been separated even for a moment; we are facing each other all day long, yet we have never met."
If you share any of my interests, of find value in anything I've said, please do not hesitate to write. I'd love to have the opportunity to share time and thoughts with you - nor would I mind being rescued from such an intellectually and philosophically vacuous environment! Life is so much more valuable and readily enjoyed when you have someone with a similar stage of thought to share it with. Naturally, I am open to communicating with anyone, as each person is a diverse collection of experience and knowledge, purpose and uniqueness. So, as it is said in the 101st Airborne Division, "We have a rendezvous with destiny." Women only please.
