It's Sunday morning, the sky is that crystal blue color
The sun is warm on your face, there still is that faint, cool,
morning breeze that sits in your spine chilling your very soul
You find yourself in a zoo - please bare with me you walk along this path,
thick with wildlife
You hear exotic birds singing their songs of habit.
You bypass the aquarium, and are drawn to this "secured" clearing
As your curiosity overtakes you,
you-slowly-step closer to the electricity charged razor wire...
Your breath begins to shorten, from the sight of a massive shape in the distance,
approaching slowly. You take off off your glasses, which shaded your eyes,
to get a better look at what has now picked up a pace, and is heading your way...
You see a golden beast ten feet away from you, as you analyze
the beauty of this muscular creature, fear sets in because,
you now are exchanging looks with a lion.
You begin to fear, fear itself, this unique situation. You
are intimidated by the lion's fearless glare, and the circumstances
that separate your world, and his. He comes closer, you take
a step back. You now are able to look into his eyes, the beauty
of them are almost hypnotic.
Something wells inside of you, as if you were 15 years old again,
anticipating Christmas day. You begin to see compassion, sadness,
loneliness and passion in his eyes.
You say to yourself, "this is one of the world's most deadliest creatures."
You step closer...
The fear, and stereotypes have vacated your mind. You begin
to feel out of place, and taken out of your natural environment.
A sickness grabs your stomach. You feel alone, and scared,
as if you were to wake up from a bad dream only to realize it's reality.
You snap out of the hypnotic trance of the lion's beautiful eyes,
with a different understanding of his situation and being.
You carefully maneuver your hand through the razor wire.
He looks at your hand, and gently caresses it...
